On March 12th 2008, we as the The Insurance Group entered an agreement to purchase carbon credits to offset our current carbon footprint.

Of more importance is that we began this process to better manage our resources in order that we reduce our carbon footprint and the resulting impact on our precious environment.

When a company displays the Green Carbon Certificate and logo it means that the company has undertaken to reduce its carbon emissions over time, has established an emissions "baseline" and has purchased carbon offsets to neutralise known carbon emissions

They have completed the following:

1.Expressed the fundamental desire as a responsible corporate citizen to reduce their carbon footprint.
2.They have honestly calculated their annual carbon emissions in association with Green Carbon Limited's consultants using New Zealand emissions calculators and using historical corporate records including annual fuel consumption, electricity bills and air travel miles.
3.They have purchased annual carbon offsets from Green Carbon Limited to help neutralise their emissions.
